KUALA LUMPUR: A bank here and six schools in three states are ordered close to prevent the spread of the influenza A (H1N1), reported Bernama.
The Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branch in Taman Leng Seng would be closed for two days after a staff was confirmed H1N1 positive.
All branch staff were directed to go for a health checkup, while the bank underwent a cleanup, said BSN in a statement.
The branch customers were redirected to other brances in Taman Midah, Taman Segar and Taman Suntex; or any of its branches, or ATM machines for banking transactions.
In Penang, SMK Convent Butterworth and SK Lahar Kepar, Kepala Batas were directed to close for a week effective yesterday, said state committee for health Phee Boon Poh.
In Perak, Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Pengkalan Hulu was ordered to close for a week effective yesterday after 24 students were confirmed positive of the H1N1 virus, said state committee on health chairman Datuk Mah Hang Soon.
He added the influenza A (H1N1) cases continued to rise with the state recording 10 new cases, making the total number to 90 cases as at 8am yesterday.
Meanwhile, a footballer from Bukit Jalil Sports School was being quarantined for probable H1N1 while five others with H1N1 symptoms were declared healthy.
In Subang Jaya, Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) Legal Department would close for a week as three of its officers tested positive for the influenza A (H1N1).
The remaining 47 officers in the department would undergo a seven-day self-quarantine, said State Health, Plantation Workers, Poverty and Caring Government Committee chairman Dr Xavier Jayakumar.
MPSJ’s operations would not be closed, but all its officers and departments would be monitored.
